PRESS RELEASE

ALGODON WINE ESTATES LAUNCHES NEW “OCHO (8) FINCAS” BLEND FROM SAN RAFAEL, MENDOZA

SAN RAFAEL, ARGENTINA – (AUGUST 8, 2014):  Algodon Wine Estates, a boutique winery located in the southern heart of Mendoza, Argentina, today announces the launch of its new OCHO (8) Fincas (“8 Vineyards”) wine label.  Algodon Wines’ OCHO (8) Fincas is a cuvée hand-harvested from several original independent family farms, which date as far back as 1946, and which today compose the basis for what is now Algodon Wine Estate’s 325 acres of productive vineyards.

Algodon Wines’ OCHO (8) Fincas is comprised of 50% Malbec, 20% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah from grapes that have been selected by hand from Algodon’s old farms formerly known as Finca Bedini, Campo Merlot, Malbec de Olivares, Los Viejos 1946, La Esmeralda, Rincon del Cabernet, Bajo la Loma, and Syrah del Valle.

“We are all very excited about the launch of Algodon Wines’ OCHO (8) Fincas, which is inspired by a heritage of craftsmanship and pays homage to the generations of winemakers that worked the land long before we arrived,” says Scott Mathis, Chairman & Founder of Algodon Group. “This wine not only honors the history of our estate, but also acknowledges the fine work and expertise of Algodon’s outstanding winemakers who have continued the legacy where our predecessors left off.  Algodon Wines’ OCHO (8) Fincas will serve as our emissary as we introduce new markets, both domestically and internationally, to our extraordinary wines with the hopes of soon launching in the Chinese and U.S. markets.  In the coming days we are also primed to introduce these markets to Algodon’s awarding-winning Bonarda wine, which we anticipate will also be a crowd pleaser.”

Algodon Wine Estates is located in the foothills of the Sierra Pintada Mountains, in San Rafael, Mendoza, on the Argentina Wine Route.  Fed by the purest glacial meltwater from the snowcapped Andes, Algodon’s vineyards produce exceptional fruit on a sandy and clay loam.  Algodon’s premium quality wines are crafted in limited production from handpicked and selected grapes by the brilliant winemaker Mauro Nosenzo, and by the acclaimed oenologist Marcelo Pelleriti, who combine modern and traditional winemaking techniques.
