PIMA by Algodon quite simply represents the best. This is a single vineyard wine that has been crafted from the finest handpicked grapes of Algodon’s old estate vineyards, planted in 1946, and utilizes the exclusive microvinification (barrel fermentation) process from day one of harvest. A careful selection of Malbec, Bonarda, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot bring all the best elements of our vineyard together in this truly iconic and powerful wine.
Microvinification is a totally handmade process that begins with a selection of the harvest’s best grapes, which are then added unpressed into French oak barrels to ferment for 60 days at a controlled temperature. Once the alcoholic and malolactic fermentation separates the pulp and the skin of the new wine, the aging process continues in the barrels for 24 months.
Deep red color, with a delicate, soft and subtle fruit on the nose and palate. There is a highly complex combination of aromatic fruits like blackberries and raspberries, with spices and floral notes. On the palate, the tannins are firm and there is a balanced acidity. This is a wine of great power, character and style, which will evolve effortlessly.
