Ahead of today’s showdown in the Lower House over the labour emergency bill promoted by the opposition, Production Minister Francisco Cabrera underscored the importance of investment as the “only way to create jobs,” urging business leaders to speak out against he legislation if that is how they feel.
Addressing roughly 100 business leaders from the American, British and Canadian chambers of commerce, the minister reiterated that increased investment was necessary to create jobs and appealed to their chequebooks with promises to smooth the way for investments.
Cabrera announced that his ministry was working to unlock US$20 billion in “latent” investments that are ready to be injected into the industrial sector alone.
